My Personal Review


When it comes to mindfulness, we cannot talk about it without mentioning our beloved Zen master, Thich Nhat Hanh. He is a Vietnamese monk, a poet, and a peace activist who was also nominated for the Nobel Prize by Martin Luther King, Jr., in 1967. As I’ve written in my previous article on mindfulness, I highly recommend his work if you are trying to learn about mindfulness. The reason why I want to introduce him to you all is that he has this very simple way of explaining deep concepts and has an enormous amount of compassion towards listeners that touches people’s heart. There are many books and videos out there on mindfulness, but I honestly feel that his works speak the loudest.

Your True Home: The Everyday Wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh

I gave this book 5 out of 5 ratings because this book is truly a gem even if you have never heard of him or read any of his books. Honestly, even if you never knew what mindfulness was, this book can help you understand it very easily. With that said, there are really no prerequisites to reading this book, and it is truly enjoyable to read and the book provides immense value and peace to your daily routine. I usually read one or two entries per day, and I always read it in the morning as I begin my day. I take my time when I read it and make sure I am being present. By adding this to my daily routine, it really helped me stay more focused and mindful throughout the day. My gratitude for life increased and my wisdom for life deepened. As a result, my mood improved, and I always look forward to starting my day with this book. This book will be valuable for everybody even if they don’t struggle with mental illness. For those of you who do struggle with mental illness, this can be a great tool to learn mindfulness and you can use this as a little lantern to navigate through the dark times.

For anybody who is interested in learning mindfulness or looking for something to add to their daily practice, I highly recommend this book. The book is fairly small but contains 365 days worth of wisdom from Thich Nhat Hanh that can help you find your way back to inner peace.
